CRISIS INTERVENTION: We are available to meet victims at crime scenes, hospitals and police stations 24 hours a day to provide emotional support.  We can prepare you for the next step in the criminal justice system and try to answer your questions.  We accompany victims to court or attend on their behalf.

COURT ADVOCACY AND NOTIFICATION: Perhaps the greatest difficulty for many crime victims is trying to understand and prepare for involvement in the criminal justice system.  Through the Prosecutor’s Victim Assistance program victims receive information about the procedures in the criminal justice system. An advocate informs victims of the present status of their case and provides court dates as they become available.  An advocate can assist in preparing a VICTIM IMPACT STATEMENT and a FINANCIAL LOSS FORM to be considered as part of a pre-sentence investigation.  An advocate will accompany victims to court, or attend on their behalf.  An advocate can also assist in keeping a victim updated regarding the status of their offender, if incarcerated.

REFERRALS:  We refer to counselors and appropriate social service agencies to assist in the healing process and deal with the issues that arise as a result of being the victim of a crime.

COMPENSATION:  We can assist eligible crime victim in the application process for Victim Compensation through the Ohio Attorney General’s Office. Go to Victim Compensation page.

FOR VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE we assist in safety planning, obtaining protection orders and collecting and distributing 911 phones. An advocate also facilitates a support group for victims of domestic violence.

PUBLIC SPEAKING pertaining to the services of Victim Assistance and the impact of crime on an individual, the family and the community.

Being a victim of crime can be a traumatic experience.  Our role is to empower you as you regain control of you life.  A victim advocate is available to assist from the time a crime occurs, through your emotional reactions and the confusing maze of the criminal justice system.  Your advocate is a resource for information about the services that are available to you.  You do not have to go through this process alone.  Victim Assistance will be your support system while you cope with the aftermath of crime.

If you don’t find the information you need on this site or through the links, please email your request and tell us the safest way to reply.
