The County prosecutor has a number of responsibilities with respect to criminal matters:

	Serving as the chief law enforcement official in the County
	Reviewing, authorizing, and prosecuting violations of felony criminal laws of the State of Ohio committed inside the County
	Upon conviction, handling the appeals heard before the court of appeals and the Supreme Court of Ohio.
	Assisting in the procurement of search and arrest warrants
	Authorizing and prosecuting felony and misdemeanor juvenile delinquency offenses
	Handling extradition hearings for criminals found within Williams County wanted in other states
